How to Enable Specific Gmail Forwarding Using Gmail Filter

Sharing is caring!

Email plays a great role in our day to day life and Gmail is undoubtedly one of the most popular email services used globally. Over 900 million active users are using Gmail globally. However, we maintain different email accounts for different purposes but, do we spend all our day in checking all those email accounts? No, we usually use our smart handhelds to sync our personal email accounts. In this scenario, how could we know if an important email arrives in one of our email address other than the personal account? Gmail Filter can help us to solve this issue, how? The new Gmail filters can be merged with the email forwarding tool to achieve specific Gmail forwarding.

We can use this specific email forwarding feature to forward emails from certain email addresses (which seems important) of other email accounts to our personal email account, as a result, we will get the notification in our handheld as soon as the mail arrives in our inbox. Today, we will see how can we enable specific Gmail forwarding using Gmail filter in our Gmail account.

If you desired to forward emails from a certain email address in Gmail then, click the checkbox at the left side of your desired email address to select it. Then select the “Filter messages like these” option from the “More” button. The underlaid image will help you in details.

Fill up the filtering options as per your requirement and when you are finished click the “Create filter with this search” option at the bottom right corner to move to the next section.

Now, click on the checkbox next to “Forward it to” and select the email address from the drop-down list. If you don’t see the email address in that list or if you are unable to select the checkbox then click on the “add forwarding address” link.

This will lead you to the email forwarding section from where you can forward all your emails to another email account. Just click the “add a forwarding address” button, a pop-up window will appear and you will be asked to type the email address you want to endorse as a forwarding mail address. An email message will be sent to that address for verification by Google.

Open that email from that account and click on the link provided, that link will lead you to a page where you have to click a confirmation button. Once you have done that and refreshed the Gmail page, you will see that the email address has appeared to that list.

Now, select that email address from the drop-down list and click on the “create filter” in step 3, and you are done.

From now on all the emails that meet the criteria you set, will be forwarded to your newly added email address. It will also appear in your regular inbox unless you modified the behaviour in step 3.

This trick is very helpful in those cases when you are waiting for an important email from a certain email address in a different email account and for that reason, you need to check that email account several times a day. Applying this trick you can access all important emails from a single account.

Just remember, specific Gmail forwarding using Gmail filter can’t be applied on the mobile version of Gmail, it is only available in the full web version of Gmail. If you stumble upon on any step, feel free to write to us, we will be happy to help you.
